{About}

Hello, friends!  Welcome to Taylor Made Home: The Blog.

If you’re new here, grab yourself a glass of sweet tea, prop your feet up and stay for a while!

ABOUT ME:

My name is Alana Taylor and I am a twenty-something-year-old southern girl who loves her tea sweet, her accent with a slight “twang” and her football team in “crimson and white” {Roll Tide!}.

First and foremost, I am a Christian who is so thankful for the blessings that God has given me.  As for my family, I have been married to my best friend for almost 4 years now and we have one son who is “all-boy”.

The answer to the “what do you do for a living” question would have to be “homemaker”.  I left my job as a credit union receptionist in April 2010 so that I could stay home with my little one and manage our home full time.  However, I will be starting my own organizing/interior decorating business soon and you will be a part of the process from the beginning!

Random Stuff You May {Or May Not} Want to Know:

I grew up as an Air Force military brat and always loved it!  I went to 6 schools within the 13 year of my academic career {from K5 to Graduation}.  One of which was in Aviano, Italy and yes, I want to go back to visit!  During our time overseas, I can remember pulling out a loose tooth and then losing it in the gravel at a German castle because my little sister wanted to “look at it”.  I think she was just trying to keep me from my quarter!

My hobbies include organizing and decorating {obviously} but I also love to be around my family, travel, shop, attend concerts, and watch movies.

I have an addiction to sodas {that I’m trying to overcome} and my computer {that I embrace}.

ABOUT TAYLOR MADE HOME:

In February of 2011, I started this blog in order to have a creative outlet and a way to escape {a.k.a. procrastinate on} my daily chores.  Since then, it has become a way for me to pursue my passion for helping others create homes that are both functional and beautiful.  The kinds of posts you can expect to see are:

* From Dream to Reality*

Right now I am at the very beginning of my journey towards small business ownership.  When I say beginning, I mean that I haven’t even created a business plan or took the first college course yet.  The good thing about this is that you get to come along with me as my dreams become a reality.

*Organizing Eye Candy*

Home organization has always been and will continue to be my first love {at least, when it comes to home interiors}.  A room is only as good as it’s functionality; which means that you could have one of the most beautiful, expensive rooms in the world but if it doesn’t meet your organizational needs, then you have wasted a lot of time and energy on something that just doesn’t work.  However, you can have a home that is BOTH pleasing to the eye AND highly functional.

*Decoration Inspiration*

Decorating is also one of my biggest hobbies, coming in second only to organizing.  So, you can expect to see a lot more interior decorating inspiration, tips and projects.  I like to feature other bloggers through things like house tours and “get organized with…” posts as much as possible because I believe in spreading the love.  However, as funds are available, I will be showing you ways in which I am personalizing our home.

*Intentionally Simple*

This one overlaps organizing from time to time {which is probably why I have a soft spot for it}, but really it hits on all aspects of life.  Here at Taylor Made Home, I will be focusing on how we can be more intentional with what we bring into our homes as well as how we can simplify our home life.
